Welcome To Our Site! Please Have A Look Around!
Pulborough Bowls Club welcomes you to our club's website. This website is to promote, advertise and enthuse about the sport of lawn bowls to the public.

We look forward to meeting new members, fellow bowlers, spectators and Touring Clubs and hope that this site will answer any queries you may have.

Pulborough Weather Update

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Pulborough Bowls Club will  be open to players/members only from Sat 17th April 2021, providing that social distancing and hygiene regulations are adhered to. Roll-ups can be booked through the Club Secretary, Jane Gray, on alternate rinks in blocks of 2 hours, to avoid any risk of overcrowding on the green. The rule of six will apply until May the 17th.
The indoor bar will unfortunately remain shut until the 17th May, but drinks can be purchased and served to seated members outdoors. The changing rooms and indoor facilities will remain shut until we are given the go ahead to open by Bowls England, but the toilet facilities can be accessed by players and members.
Membership for this year only, has been reduced to just £100 pp for Full members and Associate members can still join for £30 and pay £5 per game played and £3.50 per roll-up session. New members are welcome to join us and take advantage of our roll-up sessions after the 17th May, once we are able to allow greater numbers on the green.
We hope to run a full timetable of both friendlies and League matches, but these will be dependent on each club being willing to participate and travel as required. Our popular Ladies Triples day on Tues the 29th of June will run as normal, with teams being invited to join us from around Sussex and Surrey and all our internal club days and competitions will be open to members as usual. We may need to limit how many spectators can enter the club, even after the Covid 19 rules are relaxed in May, as priority must be given to players and members and we will still be limited to 30 people on the club grounds.
This year our Open Days will be on Saturday the 29th May, Monday the 31st May, Saturday the 10th July and the Family Fun Day on Sunday 25th July, as long as the Covid situation continues to improve.
We are all looking forward to stretching our legs once again on the green and dusting away the Covid cobwebs! You can keep up with our progress weekly in the sports section of the West Sussex County Times and our Facebook page.

We can provide you with some bowls for your practice session until you have access to your own, but flat shoes, without grips, are required to walk on the green. If you find that you enjoy yourself, details of how to join us are on the Membership page of this site.

Our fantastic Club facilities are freely accessible to all Club members and provide a social hub and venue for Suppers and events.

Please feel free to view our Facebook page, it's still a little new, so any unseen photos, positive comments, or suggestions are always wecome!

Ladies Invitation Triples

Tues 25th June 2019 marked the seventh Annual Ladies Invitation Triples Tournament at Pulborough Bowls Club.

16 triples of ladies, from all over the south, took to the green for the event sponsored by Comyn & James Estate Agents. After the National Umpire, Ian Phillips, inspected the sets of bowls being used by the entrants, play began at 1.15 pm. Teams played 4 out of 6 sessions, comprising of 5 ends each, with breaks between for refreshments and a two course buffet at the end. The two home triples, of Jane Gray, Julie Day, Elaine Lewis, Pauline Adsett, Linda Meadowcroft and Wendy Welling, played well, but unfortunately failed to make the final, which comprised of teams from Chichester and East Preston, the latter of which took home the winner's shield and prize money, after a tense, but one sided 4 end final. The day was another huge success, raising the profile of the club, it's facilities and the quality green, alongside generating valuable funds to help the club move forward. It is hoped that next year Pulborough BC will be able to host it's first Men's Invitation Day, so watch this space!

Pulborough Triple Win Storrington Open 2019!

Sunday the 7th July heralded the return of the annual Storrington Open. With players arriving from 9am, play started early, with 2 groups of teams playing alternate matches of 7 ends on 6 rinks. The home side was well represented with 4 teams, which were joined by 16 others from all over the south, including Goring Manor, Chichester, Tarring Priory and others from a mixture of clubs, like the "Pirates" and "The Dream Team. Pulborough entered 2 triples, skipped by Jeff Davy and John Brown. Unfortunately the little sun that did appear, only shone on John's triple, comprising of Steve Adsett and Paul Day, who went on to win all 5 of their qualifying rounds to finish top of their group. The final play-off was against Chichester and after a tense few ends, the lads from Pulborough came through to win by just 1 shot on the final end! What a win and the second by a Pulborough team in recent history! A fantastic result!

Pulborough Bowls Club Community Fun Day!

The sun shone on Pulborough Bowls Club for it's second Community Fun Day on Sunday 24th July from 2pm, sponsored by Cubbitt and West. Members were busy preparing the club from early morning to ensure the success of the day and give the best reception to everyone coming along to join in the fun! The children's games were especially popular, with trophies being given for the best scores in skittles, target bowls and any other fun game that was invented by Mick Ralph on the day! Many adults were tempted to try their hand at bowls for the first time, whilst others looked to make the transition from indoor bowls to outdoor or dust off their bowls after years away. There was a true buzz in the air that brought a smile to even the most exhausted Pulborough players, like Jane and Malcolm Gray, that had been valiantly serving up bacon rolls all day, managed to have a laugh and a well earned drink at the bar as the event carried on until 8pm. Music was supplied by Retrospect Event Sound and raffle prizes were donated by Countryside Meats of Adversane , the Flower Shop in Pulborough, Dyke Farm Shop, Suters Butchers, Hennings, Wilmers, Pulborough Stores and many generous club members. Approximately £400 was raised towards improvements to the canopy area at the front of the club over the Winter months. Our thanks go to the many people within PBC that made this event such a huge success.

Pulborough BC Win Division 3 Of The West Sussex Bowls League In 2015!

After just their second season playing in the West Sussex Bowls League Div 3, Pulborough Bowls Club have come top of the league with a total of 104 points and an average score of 6.5 points per game! A fantastic result against the likes of Chichester and Tarring Priory. Pulborough have had a strong season with a shot difference over their closest rivals, Tarring, of over 150 shots, meaning that they gain automatic promotion to Division 2 for next season
